Refreshing your home..

Hello all,how are you?
I am so full of cold and ache all over its unreal..fed up with this so i will be consoling myself with dark chocolate and a good book after a warm bath. My fingers are crossed the girls don't get it but they more than likely will.

So back to my post today..refeshing your home for nothing.
It doesn't have to cost anything or for you spend precious money on things.
My grandma had bugger all but her house always felt welcoming and was clean. All her furniture was old but it was loved and looked after..polished and waxed so it shone and i swear i could see my face in the dining table.
You can declutter til your hearts content but if you don't clean it won't make any difference at all.
Cleaning doesn't have to cost a fortune..few drops of bleach for your floors and some washing up liquid for doors, window sills and frames and bingo nice and clean.
Clean your windows get the grime of winter off them.
Look around your house and change things around..furniture,curtains and cushion even pictures.Just by moving them around it can give your home a whole new feel and because its not permanent you can always change it back again if you really don't like it.
Tidy up the bookcases..put them by author, colour, subject or size.
Put toys away as soon as they go to bed or nap..i don't have to do this any more but i always did.
Sort through the toys as well..i used to split them up and put half away upstairs then after a few months swap them over..they think they have new toys when you swap them around.
Sort out the houseplants..repot them or just a good spray..move them around to brighten up corners.
Move your fireplace ornaments..swap them over for ones in other places.
Pop a table cloth on the table..instant brightening.
Get the china out the cupboard and use it or like me i mix and match my plates..a blend of old and new.
As the days are getting longer and the sun should be shining..open windows to let in the fresh air.
Light a candle instead of a lamp in the evenings.
Put your lamp in a new spot and see how it changes the look of your room.
Anyone else have any free ideas to refresh your home after a long winter.
