We need a rest..

Hello all, how are you all?
After having a blog break i think we need a break totally, our lives are a whirl of activity. We are both shattered and whatever Iris and Fern are on, we need some.
We have been at the allotment daily and bringing home the bounty of it. I have frozen about 20lb of Raspberries, ate about 6 lb and given away 3lb.I have made sauces with our tomato crop, frozen some roasted tomatoes and eaten a lot but still have 2 big bowls to go.
Hubby has been fixing his shed roof..it sprung a leak in an unlikely spot..see if you can spot him.
Or try this one a bit closer..
You can just make out his blue shirt. Finally he found where the water was coming in and sorted it.
We have had to remove 2 of our Apple trees..they were not happy and one was dying..i think where we had put them wasn't the right place for them..we took them out and the roots were almost dead. So we had a big space on the fence..i had visited my daughter a few days before and saw what her neighbours had done. They had used old pallets to build a flower bed against the fence.I thought it was brilliant and told hubby..next thing you know we have built our own..and it did not cost one penny. We had some really crappy looking pallets just hanging around the back of the green houses..we had the paint already and also the plastic to line it..
I had to brush them and some of the spiders were huge..eww, but i got them away and the girls would help once they had gone.

This is what is now filling up the space
We have filled it with old compost and it will get more from the chicken pen and also the allotment..it will be having some manure too..in the meantime we found this wire to cover it to stop the cats pooping in it.

I think it looks brilliant and for free its even better..we have decided to plant lettuces, spring onions and flowers in it next year.As for the missing trees ,i am hoping to replace them and keep these ones in pots that i can move around the garden as the weather dictates. Hubby has been reading the Harry Dodson books and has been inspired by them as have i..we are going to have a go at growing our fruit in a fruit house..we can make one i hope and keep it warm if we position it correctly..also having a go at growing Peas in the greenhouse through the winter so they are ready for spring.I love the Harry Dodson books..they are amazing with the hints and ideas at how to grow and make the most of every spare bit of land you have.
We had another Melon ripen..gosh its delicious and this is whats left after we had some for pudding. The last of it went the next morning at breakfast.
I have been frantically making pom poms..i would love to have the rug made by christmas but its not urgent and i do them in the evening..i find it relaxing.
I have put my conversion charts on the inside of the kitchen cupboard where we bake..a lot of the recipes i use are American and this chart converts its all to ounces and fluid ounces..so much easier than having to keep getting out my folder and flicking through it.
I have been busy selling on Ebay..quite surprising really that all the summer clothes went especially with summer coming to an end..but glad they did.next on the selling list will be the Sylvanian Houses..i have about 8-9 so hoping they sell.
I have had my older girls and grand children around..i have also been to my daughters for lunch which is lovely as i don't have to make it.My littlest girls love seeing their neices and nephew and its so great that they all play together and get along .
I cleaned out the washing machine drawer yuk..it got doused with white vinegar and scrubbed out then i did a hot wash and added soda crystals to the machine..it looks sparkling now.
I have made more toilet bombs and some lavender bags.
We have had the sewing machine out to fix small items and i caught up with replacing buttons and mending very small tears.
We have made all our own bread and cobs and eaten from the pantry and freezer..no unnecesary trips to town unless we had to.
And in between i have baked and just spent time with the girls..caught up with my own reading..you know the books that you get but put on the book case and forget about them..well i have now read them all..apart from one which i am waiting for it to arrive..the library didn't have it so i gave in and bought a copy..it was £2.80 and i am like a cat on a hot tin roof waiting for it.
I made this on Friday and now can't wait to make more like it..i didn't think it would work as i didn't have the correct stuff to do it but i read a few commets on it and found out i could do it with Modge Podge..which is bloody expensive to buy..but i found a way to make my own..PVA glue and water simple..what do you think?

I found it on Pinterest and the lady herself has a blog..sincerelysarad .com..i can't get the link to work so just google it.

take care all
